Oh, if only it was over!

It’s a phrase I’ve heard a lot from event organizers over the past 15 years. I get it, the pressure in the last days before and during the event is enormous. And I also understand the first reaction- if only it stayed with the first reaction. But the problem isn’t just the initial reaction of relief. The problem is that this reaction takes too long, leading to missed opportunities in the months ahead.

The world is spinning faster and faster. The amount of data we receive on a daily basis is staggering, causing us to forget things days after they happened. This also applies to events. If we don’t do the follow-up quickly, while the impressions are still fresh, we can miss out on a tremendous opportunity to further communicate, sell or strengthen the relationship with the participants.
