How BTC City digitalized a voucher tradition and launched a modern gift card system for Europe’s largest business and shopping district

From manual excel administration to digital excellence
BTC City is a symbol of dynamic development and innovation. Yet, when it came to its gift programs, the company stuck with traditional paper vouchers right up until 2023. Tracking and entering data manually into Excel spreadsheets led to human error risks, delayed financial transactions, and consumed far too many valuable human resources.
Digital transformation was essential to reduce accounting errors, simplify invoice reconciliation with hundreds of tenants, and gain real-time sales insights. The core challenge was to replace tedious administration with a system that would free up staff resources and give the company complete control over its gift program.

Visitors gained complete freedom. They can now purchase BTC City gift cards at physical service points or online as e-gift cards. The cards are no longer tied to fixed amounts; instead, they allow for custom top-ups and gradual spending across different stores. Modern users can easily save the card to their Google or Apple Wallet and pay using their smartphone, removing the need for a physical card.
For BTC City, implementing SmartGifty marked the end of the manual labor era. The system provides 24/7 visibility into all transactions, inventory, and redemptions. Automated reconciliation with merchants has drastically reduced administrative costs and the time required for financial settlements.
